Morphodynamics of Boulder?Bed Semi?Alluvial Streams in Northern Fennoscandia: A Flume Experiment to Determine Sediment Self?Organization

چکیده
In northern Fennoscandia, semi-alluvial boulder-bed channels with coarse glacial legacy sediment are abundant, and due to widespread anthropogenic manipulation during timber-floating, unimpacted reference reaches rare. The landscape context of these rapids—with numerous mainstem lakes that buffer high flows connectivity in addition a regional low yield—contribute amounts fine incompetent transport boulders. To determine the morphodynamics rapids potential self-organization multiple flows, flume experiment was designed carried out mimic conditions Fennoscandia. Two slope setups (2% 5%) were used model range (Q1 (summer flow), Q2, Q10, Q50) 8 × 1.1 m distribution analogous field conditions; bed topography measured using structure-from-motion photogrammetry after each flow obtain DEMs. No classic steep coarse-bed channel bedforms (e.g., step-pools) developed. However, similarly relative submergence, at Q10 Q50 deposited upstream boulders scoured downstream. Because not able rework by disrupting grain-interlocking from preceding lower transporting boulders, or forming channel-spanning channel-forming discharge is larger than Q50. These results have implications for restoration gravel spawning beds Fennoscandia highlight importance large grains understanding morphodynamics.

Dynamics of Wood Transport in Streams: a Flume Experiment
The influence of woody debris on channel morphology and aquatic habitat has been recognized for many years. Unlike sediment, however, little is known about how wood moves through river systems. We examined some dynamics of wood transport in streams through a series of flume experiments and observed three distinct wood transport regimes: uncongested, congested and semi-congested. During unconges...
متن کاملFormation of Stationary Alternate Bars in a Steep Channel with Mixed-size Sediment: a Flume Experiment
Alternate bars were formed by sediment transport in a flume with Froude-modelled flow and relative roughness characteristic of gravel-boulder channels with steep slopes. The flume (0.3 m wide x 7.5 m long) was filled with a sand-gravel mixture, which was also fed into the top of the flume at a constant rate under constant discharge. Channel slope was set at 0.03. Initially, coarse particles acc...
متن کاملSediment Transport Modelling for Coastal Morphodynamics
The accurate prediction of sand transport rates in the coastal zone depends not only upon the choice of sediment transport model but also, rather critically, upon the formulation used to predict the bed roughness (ks). Sand transport rates are modelled here using both a One-equation, turbulence-closure, TKE-model and also Bijker’s sand transport model. Following some remarks about the nature an...
متن کاملfrom linguistics to literature: a linguistic approach to the study of linguistic deviations in the turkish divan of shahriar
chapter i provides an overview of structural linguistics and touches upon the saussurean dichotomies with the final goal of exploring their relevance to the stylistic studies of literature. to provide evidence for the singificance of the study, chapter ii deals with the controversial issue of linguistics and literature, and presents opposing views which, at the same time, have been central to t...
15 صفحه اولa frame semantic approach to the study of translating cultural scripts in salingers franny and zooey
the frame semantic theory is a nascent approach in the area of translation studies which goes beyond the linguistic barriers and helps us to incorporate cognitive and cultural factors to the study of translation. based on rojos analytical model (2002b), which centered in the frames or knowledge structures activated in the text, the present research explores the various translation problems that...
